Dear ones,

Another month of blessings from our heavenly Father and the ‘mailbox’ is again filled with the family’s gratitude and praises for our wonderful God!  .Through all the months that we’ve been posting Family News, that unfailing and ever increasing level of gratitude has really spoken to my heart.  It has shown me once again how easily we humans can be lulled into a lethargy that blinds us to the wonders and works of our God all around us regardless (or even in spite) of our circumstances.  I guess I’m especially aware because our society here in the USA is so filled with marketing media.  Everywhere we look, ads are enticing us to be dissatisfied with what we have because (according to them), we need the newer, bigger, nicer whatever to be okay.  And, according to them, we can never be satisfied unless we do buy their products.  Well, clearly our beloved Lord and Master teaches differently.

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:11-12)

Not only does He give us the bullseye above, but also the “how to” in verses such as these:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8)

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.(2 Corinthians 4:18)

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:1-3)

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry…. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips…. since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. (Colossians 4:5-10)

And the result, when each disciple effectively disciplines himself or herself to walk only in His Perfect ways?  We experience and model the REALITY that “Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” (Colossians 3:11)

May our Heavenly Father continue to pour out His richest blessings on each of you and your loved ones.  We appear to be facing some very critical and trying times in the days ahead.  All the more reason to keep our focus upon Yeshua, the Living Word, who is our Rock and Fortress… and so, so much more!
