14. Our Father’s Awesome Rescue Mission
God’s Perfect Provision… from the beginning
In Genesis 1-11 we see what God has already given us. Through His Word, God has given to every human –
- His Perfect Eternal Living Word who contains all of God’s Fullness.
- His All-inclusive, perfectly complete and finished Creation which contains everything every creature will ever need to fulfill his or her God-given purpose and destiny.
- His Perfect All-Sufficient everlasting Original Blessing. The Word is that Blessing that God gave to Adam and Eve and all their descendants. The Word contains the Fullness of God’s love and care for us. He was imparted to us all, even as we were being created. If we receive the Word, we receive the Blessing and He will see us through every situation, challenge, crisis and need of our lives. That is why faith and obedience to God’s Word are so vitally necessary.
The Blessing was given before Adam’s Sin and fall. God’s perfect wisdom and foreknowledge had already provided the full redemption, cleansing and restoration that our fall into Sin and its damage require before we can be perfectly restored. So God’s original provision included the perfect remedy and means by which all Sin-damage could be repaired, redeemed and restored. All is provided by the absolute Authority of God’s perfect Life-giving Word and can be applied to whoever will allow the Word to occupy His rightful place as their Head. And then He will give that person the great gift of His indwelling Holy Spirit!
Sin greatly damaged God’s Creation
Through Adam’s Sin we became ‘Head-less.’ Participation in the Serpent’s Sin separated us from the authority and Blessing of God’s living Word. But notice God’s reaction.
After the fall, more of God’s perfection was revealed. He sent His living Word to re-attach Adam and Eve to Himself and ‘cover’ their nakedness. This proves that nothing the Serpent or any other created being does can prevent God’s plan for Creation from being fulfilled. God’s Word will penetrate Creation with the Love and Goodness He is sent to add to it. If we allow Him to add it to us personally, our Sin-corrupted state will transform into our Master’s Perfect Righteousness. If we receive what the Word is here to be to us, He’ll re-attach us to Himself and restore everything to us. All that is His, will also be ours.
Disciples are to react as God did. We are not to judge ourselves or anyone else by our past or current imperfect performance and condition. The story isn’t over. What matters is not what we are missing, but what we will allow God to add to what we are missing. Will we allow God’s Word to apply what He knows we need, while we still have time to receive it, or not? That is the important issue. God’s Word is our Creator, Sustainer, our all-sufficient Original Blessing and Perfect Salvation. He is also our Reconciler, Regenerator, Redeemer, Restorer and High Priest. He will restore everything the Serpent stole, killed or damaged. All of that was ours from the beginning. It was already given. So if we repent of our ‘Headlessness’ and follow and obey Him, we become one with Him and one with whatever abides within God’s Original Blessing – The Word.
After the Word re-connects with us, we become a temple of the Holy Spirit and begin to receive and overflow with all that our Master restores to us. Through us, He can impart to the world around us, as much of the Blessing as the world is willing to receive. Thus He can include us in what He is here to do for the world.
God always reacts to bad things and situations in ways that will make them better. He never makes them worse! His Word restores what we lost from our Original Blessing (Cf. Isaiah 61; Luke 7:18-23). This is what disciples must learn to do as well. By the time this temporal age ends and Creation slips into eternity, all will be perfectly restored. God promises this is how it will be:
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
“And He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ And He said, ‘Write, for these words are faithful and true.’ Then He said to me, ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.’” (Revelation 21:1-8)
God’s Ultimate Target
The above text reveals God’s ultimate ‘target.’ He sent His Word to guide and lead fallen Creation back so that we could hit this target ‘dead center.’ All we have to do is believe, obey and follow Him until He reaches His goal. To believe and obey is to be re-attached to our Head who is the Fullness of our Blessing and Inheritance. And to be one with Him is to be one with His Eternal Triumph.
Now that we know what the target is, we can return to our current position in space and time Reality with a clear sense of direction. The ‘Blessing Target’ God set before us is the beacon that will guide our choices and our steps from now on. We can ‘choose’ our way to the target. Each choice we make will direct and channel our God-given energy closer to the target, or it will cause the energy to scatter and miss the target.
Ponder what happened after Adam and Eve fell. Grasp the significance of why God sent His Word to come after them and cover their nakedness. He came to restore their birthright and purify them and to replace everything the Serpent and Sin stole and destroyed in their lives. God’s love for us will never change, so He is here to do the same thing for all of us!
God didn’t send His Son to condemn, shame, blame or reject us. He sent Him to restore the Original Blessing to us and reclaim us for Himself. God’s Word is here to reconcile us with God as soon as we come back under His Authority. Every human being is endlessly, changelessly loved and blessed. That is why Satan’s lies, deceptions and slanders against God’s character and intentions toward us are so deadly and destructive!
Our perfect God will never revoke, change or annul any human’s image and likeness purpose. He will never take back His Original Blessing because He is eternally perfect. Eternal Perfection never changes. Imperfection needs to change. And God’s promises and gifts are also perfect and changeless. We may choose to reject what He offers, but God will never stop loving and wanting to bless us no matter what happens or what we do or fail to do in time and space. Not until eternity begins will He stop trying to restore us.
“Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ And to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth, everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made.” (Isaiah 43:5-7)
God’s Word is single-minded. He is here to reconnect all of us to our Heavenly Father so we can fulfill our purpose and destiny and share in God’s eternal Life and Kingdom forever (See John 17). He did not create us to be victimized, abused or lost. He created us to be His everlasting image and likeness. So disciples must always remember that every human being is to be utterly, eternally, loved, respected and blessed! If we love God, we must love His Word and His Word’s image and likeness creations.
Genesis and the rest of the Scriptures tell us of the complete restoration of all things. If we hear, believe and obey God’s Word, He’ll enable us to fulfill and enjoy our God-given purpose, destiny and inheritance. That is how perfect and eternal God’s love for us is! His perfection is our infinite, eternal granite-solid foundational ‘Rock’ of safety. Everything we are and have and will do must be built upon that Rock. God’s Word has revealed this to us:
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24-27)
Ponder the benefit of allowing God’s Word to reconnect us to Himself:
If we abide lovingly and willingly under His Word’s perfect Authority, we remain one with God because His Word is our Head and eternal Life (John 14:5-7).
The Word imparts His perfect eternal Life to us as long as we do not create any obstacles or resistance to the flow of energy unleashed when God gives the Blessing.
The Word’s perfect Life and Love in us obeys and satisfies Father’s perfect standards, in our name. He creates, redeems, restores, adds to and works in us for the good of those He brings into our lives. Our faith and obedience allow Him to produce His perfect fruit in us. And we can bear His fruit and join Him in sharing it with the rest of Creation if we abide in Him and continually receive all that He is and does.
Like living branches connected to an infinite, eternal Vine, we can share in our Master’s perfection and interact with His divine Presence which will expedite His ability to transmit the Blessing that He is to whoever and whatever is around us. We are to be trained and equipped to embody God’s forgiveness and release His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control throughout all of His Creation. In that very practical and beneficial way, we overcome satanic evil with His Good and serve as His image and likeness.
Our problems never arise because God changes or withdraws His love and blessing from us. They arise when we fail to believe, trust and obey Him. Then we cut ourselves off from our Head…and the flow of grace is interrupted.
By remaining attached to our Head, and allowing His Resurrection Life to flow into and through us, we can join Him in proving that He was raised from the dead and is present. We can demonstrate our Messiah’s Resurrection Presence by allowing Him to lovingly work in us and reach out to others through us. Then even wicked people can see and experience Him as He appears in us and blesses them through us. Even those with no faith of their own can know that His claims and promises are true – that He is here, working and reaching out to them, from within us. In us He becomes flesh once more.
We are called to help dispense God’s perfect Original Blessing.
We can learn to share in and demonstrate the Reality of the changeless, eternal Blessing our Lord is here to be to every person we meet. God gives His Blessing to every human, indiscriminately and freely. Therefore, as His image and likeness, we are to pass the Blessing along –indiscriminately and freely to anyone God brings to us.
We must be trained to stand our ground and remain focused on what is right instead of obsessing on what is wrong. Our Lord’s Light must continue to shine amid the Darkness. That’s why we must continue to expedite the flow of what He transmits into us and allow its Life giving polarity and energy to flow out of us without any resistance, opposition or restraint. What comes out of God is freely imparted to us. And we are entrusted with the job of following suit and passing it along freely to whatever is going on around us. If we obsess over the Darkness, we allow His Light to go out. But if we are disciplined and focus on releasing His Light, the Darkness is dispelled.
“…as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead; cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give!” (Matthew 10:7-8 Emphasis added.)
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
The Word teaches trains and disciplines His hand-picked disciples.
God sent His Word to begin training His first chosen redemption servant, Abram, whom He later re-named, ‘Abraham.’
“Now the LORD said to Abram, ‘Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.’” (Genesis 12:1-3 Emphasis added.)
Now that we know how perfect, reliable and merciful our awesome God is and how perfectly He provides for us, we can rest and rely upon His eternal perfection, constancy and faithfulness with airtight confidence, peace and joy. He separates us from the world to reveal Himself and to teach, train and discipline us for His service. He does not separate us because He hates and rejects everyone else. He separates us to train us, so we can join Him in reaching out to them. After we’re trained, He will send us back, fully equipped and trained to remain as one with Him amid the combat with the powers of Darkness and the unbelief, Sin-fullness and resistance of the ‘Head-less’ world around us. If we’re well trained and equipped, then when we are sent back to assist the Lord’s Rescue Mission for the rest of the world, we won’t slip back into our former worldly ways. Instead we will stand our ground, thus the world will not change us; we will change the world. The Lord began to reveal this to Abram and through him, to all future disciples who would be called to allow God to reach out to the rest of the fallen ‘Head-less’ world through them.
The Blood Covenant relationship into which God included Abram, his household and his unborn descendants, is the pattern of Salvation into which God wants to include all the peoples of the world. Just as the Original Blessing was given to all, so are the Salvation, Redemption and Restoration contained in the Blessing, meant for all. The powers of Darkness are intent on blocking and wiping out our Blessing. But disciples are to be trained to rejoice in it, protect it and withstand all resistance to it so God’s Blessing can hit His target effectively and perfectly.
“A voice is calling, ‘Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness; make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. Let every valley be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; and let the rough ground become a plain, and the rugged terrain a broad valley; then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all flesh will see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” (Isaiah 40:3-5 Emphasis added.)
The task of each disciple is, and always will be, clearing the way for the Lord’s coming. We are to actually demonstrate His Reality, not just talk about it. We are to expedite His ability to pierce, penetrate and impregnate other people with His Life and Love, instead of putting up barriers that would hinder and resist and stop the flow of His Love from reaching all mankind.
Knowing the absolute perfection of God’s Love nature enables us to understand the Good News mission we’ve been called to fulfill. We can allow God’s Word to reach and bless every speck and portion of God’s demon oppressed, wounded, fallen Creation through us because the Word is everything to us. All men must be summoned to become one with the Word made flesh. Nothing short of Him living in us and through us will save us. The world doesn’t need us… it needs HIM! So we must allow nothing to separate us from our Head; and we must not do anything that prevents the world around us from recognizing and responding to Him.
It is our privilege, honor and glory to allow the risen Lord to reign, rule, live and work in us and through us. If we allow it, He will create, provide, bring back to life, heal, cure and set free whoever and whatever Satan’s hateful, destructive venom has attacked, mutilated and entrapped.
The commission God entrusts to His Word’s disciples is this:
We are to be living testimonies to God’s Truth and Reality. Through us, God’s Word can restore and transmit the Original Truth and Blessing God meant for all people to receive. Thus God’s Love can reconnect with and restore every human life that He has created. What men choose to do with His redemptive, restorative love is another matter. But that is not our concern. We must focus on the fact that God has freely given everything we need to be what He created us to be. Our job is to make sure the world knows this. Ours is a ministry of reconciliation between men and God. So we must demonstrate and embody God’s Word (who is Salvation) to everyone who is still separated from Him.
Even though most people remain disconnected from God and what His Word is here to give, there is no reason for us to despise or condemn them. The story isn’t over. God’s passionate redemptive love is in the process of reconciling and reconnecting with all people and restoring them back to their God-intended beauty and fulfillment!
We are to ‘have the mind of Christ.’ We are to expedite and cooperate with His ministry of Reconciliation, Reconnection and Restoration. We are to be as indiscriminate and free in sharing The Blessing, as God is. He loves the good and the wicked and provides for them all, as much as the free will of each one will allow. We can be as our Master is, by allowing Him to be what He is, through us. He will share Father’s Blessing indiscriminately through the way we view people, the way we think about them, and the way we speak, act, react and interact with them.
We are to side with God against the Serpent and his Sin. And with Him, we are to stand by all men and women the Serpent has attacked and deceived. We are to allow our Master to obey His Father and to serve and reach out to every human being God draws into our lives. That is why we must repent of any old Sin patterns and wiring and programming that remain in us. We must aggressively renew our minds until we become a highway by which the Lord can come into this desert of a world.
“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:27-36)
We are not to view any aspect of God’s Creation, except the powers of Darkness, as evil or wicked or off limits to God’s love and reconciliation. God created all humans and intends to equip and garden each one of them to be ‘very good.’
The Serpent’s malice and rebellion must not be allowed to change or kill the perfection of what God has done. Satan managed to damage and disconnect us from our true Source for a time. But He cannot change God or destroy His purpose. God’s living Word is here to rescue and reconnect all of us to Himself.
We are not to despise, or hold in contempt anything or anyone God has created. He will always love and respect them. So we are to serve Him by allowing Him to restore the fullness of God’s Original Blessing to anyone He brings into our lives.
Disciples are to be trained to see and think about everything and everyone they encounter, even their enemies who intend to do them harm, with the mind of our Messiah. He died for all, even His enemies. We are to think of and act toward and react to and interact with them the way He does.
“When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. But Jesus was saying, ‘Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.’ And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves. And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, ‘He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.’” (Luke 23:33-35 Emphasis added.)
God will train us to stand our ground. He will train us to pass His Blessing along to everything and everyone in our path, no matter what circumstances we face. We are here to learn to overcome all temporary satanic evil with God’s invincible, eternal Good.
At present our world is still very dry and dark and barren. It lacks many vitally essential qualities because the Serpent destroyed or stole them or managed to deceive us. But God’s Creation is worth all that God suffered and endured to save and redeem and restore it. He judged it to be, ‘very good.’ And that’s the way it will end up to be.
Even in its present, fallen, demon-possessed condition, the seeds of God’s all-inclusive salvation and restoration are embedded throughout the desert sands of fallen, Sin-corrupted Creation. God is still in every part of the desert, no matter how desolate and barren it seems. Those tiny seeds of opportunity contain the power to connect us with the fullness of God’s perfect eternal love. It’s our job to love God enough to water and feed His seeds faithfully and ceaselessly.
“Again he measured a thousand (cubits); and it was a river that I could not ford, for the water had risen, enough water to swim in, a river that could not be forded. He said to me, ‘Son of man, have you seen this?’ Then he brought me back to the bank of the river. Now when I had returned, behold, on the bank of the river there were very many trees on the one side and on the other. Then he said to me, “These waters go out toward the eastern region and go down into the Arabah (Jordan Valley) then they go toward the sea, being made to flow into the (Dead) Sea, and the waters of the sea become fresh. It will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes will live. And there will be very many fish, for these waters go there and the others become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.” (Ezekiel 47:5-9)
“Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” (John 7:37-39)
Releasing His Transforming Power
Whatever Creation lacks, our indwelling Master has. So as we release His Life and Love to everyone we encounter, the chemistry and climate around us will surely improve and manifest more and more of His fruit-producing Life. The more we release and share the Blessing our Master is, then, just as God promised in Genesis 3:15, His perfection will destroy the works of the Serpent and transform everything to the eternal Glory of His beloved Father…through us (John 15:1-17; 17).
All we need is to receive Him into ourselves, by faith in His infinite credibility. Then the rivers of His living water, His very Life, will overflow from us and spill out to whatever is around us.
Because God and His Word and His chosen Covenant-keeping people are here, the desert will become much greener and much more fruitful…regardless of what the powers of Darkness may try to do to stop it.
It is with all of this wonderful, glorious Good News in mind that we can put into practice the awesome revelation and instruction contained in the first eleven chapters of Genesis. Now we can continue to explore more of what is taking place throughout the Biblical love story of God and His beautiful, ‘very good’ Creation.
By learning what God intended Abram and his descendants to be and to do, we will better understand how relentless God is in overcoming all satanic evil. He overcomes it by all of the good His Word is sent to add to all that is wrong and all the people who are so wounded, crippled and spiritually blinded. The Word of God contains everything that Creation needs. So let us begin to focus on Him and make Him our one and only Priority.
“For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.” (2 Corinthians 4:5-11)
