13. God Prepares Moses to Face the Impossible
“Then Moses said, “What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’” The Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “A staff.” Then He said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. But the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand and grasp it by its tail”—so he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand – “that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” (Exodus 4:1-5)
Disciples of God’s living Word are commissioned to do, what for decapitated people, would be utterly impossible. When God’s Word gives them their assignments, the disciples soon realize that what He is asking of them is far beyond their ability to fulfill; and everyone around them knows it too. So if we naively assume that God truly is leaving everything up to us, we’ll naturally grit our teeth, clench our fists, wrack our brains and struggle to figure out step-by-step plans of action. We’ll exert enormous amounts of time, energy and money, just like worldly business corporations do, and we’ll strive to concoct ways by which to get the job done. We’ll be driven continually to think up ways and means to stir up and maintain the interest and excitement of as many people as possible. So we’ll have to perpetually lure and recruit…more and more cooperation from people…and amass equipment and… monetary assets, etc. etc. etc..
If we truly believe this is all about us and that we’re at the center of everything, God remains outside of our mental pictures, hidden in distant regions of eternity. In that case, we remain virtually ‘decapitated’ in our minds, forced to operate in our own strength because of the way we see God and ourselves and reality in general. We’ll work by the mental patterns humanism uses…the mental patterns that declare Man to be the measure of all things and captain of his own radically independent mind, will and destiny.
We will follow worldly, man-controlled methods until our state of living death runs its course and our strength and enthusiasm wane and wind down to the zero point. Then our delusional dreams and resolves will die. In the end, nothing of lasting value and eternal fruitfulness will remain. The fads and movements that our efforts generate last only for a season. Then our living death state becomes obvious and twitches and kicks its last…then the fullness of our death state reaches its ultimate and final manifestation of emptiness.
The Death Sentence of Sin
Every created thing that Sin has corrupted is fatally afflicted. It has been that way since the moment our first human father fell into Sin and unleashed its consequences upon us. The moment Adam allowed Sin to take over his soul we were severed from God’s living Word. We all became like beautiful flowers, suddenly severed at the base of our stems and separated from our common life-giving Root. Our entire race inherited Adam’s state of ‘living death.’ And like freshly cut flowers, after we were born, we retained some appearance of being alive. But in truth, we emerged from the womb…dying. Sicknesses, accidents and wars do not kill us. They only accelerate the pace of our living death and hasten its inevitable ultimate conclusion. So despite appearances to the contrary, we are all already dead from conception. We died in and with Adam. So Genesis tells us: we are – the living dead!
People often place cut flowers in attractive vases and display them as examples of beauty and grace. And for a few days they retain their original fragrance and lovely appearance and rich deep colors. But the appearances of life and beauty are only that – appearances. The vases do not contain anything that’s living. They are not real flowers. They are ‘living death’ reminders of what at one time were real, living flowers. The lovely appearances fool us into thinking we’re looking at something living…but in a short time the true ‘death’ that is in them gradually emerges and becomes increasingly manifest. They wilt, sag and the decaying process accelerates rapidly. Then the truth becomes clear…they were dead all along. They died the moment they were severed from their true source of life. And since that moment, there was no life in them; they were dead, so they could not produce anything living. So any ‘works’ such things try to produce will be just as dead as their sources.
“For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust. As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more and its place acknowledges it no longer.” (Psalm 103:14-16)
“Thus says the Lord: ‘Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength, and whose heart turns away from the Lord. For he will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when prosperity comes, but will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, a land of salt without inhabitant.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.
“The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it? I, the Lord, search the heart; I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds.” (Jeremiah 17:5-10)
“…He said to another, ‘Follow Me.’ But he said, ‘Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.’ But He said to him, ‘Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the Kingdom of God.’” (Luke 9:59-60 Emphasis added.)
“For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.” (1 Corinthians 3:11-13)
More than Meets the Eye
And so, things are not really as they seem to natural, radically independent human minds and senses. There is much more going on than first meets the eye…more than the human mind devoid of God’s revelation could ever imagine. So when there is no true revelation from our Creator to guide us into real truth, all we’re left with are our own vain imaginations. And that’s what Headless men and women use to try to fill the enormous vacuum left by the absence of the true, living Word of God. They conjure up vast arrays of self-devised ‘gods’ hoping they will serve as true alternate sources of supply, authority, protection and direction. And they try to use such things to try to make themselves appear and feel as ‘alive’ as possible. But they never succeed. Living death can’t be improved, fixed or transformed. No matter what you try to do to it or with it…it’s dead.
“‘Vanity of vanities,’ says the Preacher, ‘Vanity of vanities! All is vanity.’ What advantage does man have in all his work which he does under the sun? A generation goes and a generation comes, but the earth remains forever. Also, the sun rises and the sun sets; and hastening to its place it rises there again. Blowing toward the south, then turning toward the north, the wind continues swirling along; and on its circular courses the wind returns. All the rivers flow into the sea, yet the sea is not full. To the place where the rivers flow, there they flow again. All things are wearisome; Man is not able to tell it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor is the ear filled with hearing. That which has been is that which will be, and that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one might say, ‘See this, it is new’? Already it has existed for ages which were before us. There is no remembrance of earlier things; and also of the later things which will occur, there will be for them no remembrance among those who will come later still.” (Ecclesiastes 1:1-11)
We’ve said elsewhere that Father has only one question for human beings that He designed and created to be ‘image and likeness’ disciples of His living Word. The question is:
“How much of My Son…My living Word…is in you?
In other words, it’s as if God is saying, “Are you truly one of the ‘living ones?’ Is My living Word (Son) your true Head? Do you follow and allow Him to live and reign from within your heart of hearts? Are My Word’s Eternal Life, Righteousness and Authority really flowing into you and producing His Fruit from within you? Is My Son really able to obey Me from within your flesh, in your name? If He is not your true indwelling Life, then you are dead! And My Kingdom is not for those who reject My Word and the Eternal Life that only He can give!”
“If you’re not really bearing My Son’s Fruit, know this… I reject any cheap counterfeit substitutes you may try to offer in His place. Show me the one My heart desires, My only begotten Son, the only one in whom I am well pleased. He is the Source of all created life. And only He comprehends My thoughts, understands My ways, meets My standards and obeys Me to Perfection. His is the only Life and the only Work that withstands the Fires of My Perfect Scrutiny and the piercing Judgment that flows out of My Perfect Nature, Justice and Righteousness! If He is not covering you with all He is and all He has done on your behalf, you are naked before Me.”
During the first forty years Moses spent in his ‘Boot Camp,’ God’s Truth and Reality finally broke the hold that living death radical independence had on him since birth. He humbled himself before God when God sent His Word after him to cover and restore him to Eternal Life. The Word pierced, penetrated and impregnated him with His own Life and Activity. And Moses began to learn exactly how fallen human flesh can be able to ‘do the impossible.’ Our flesh doesn’t do it; the Word and Spirit of God do it from within us!
The Word took over and began to obey His Father from within the spirit, soul and body of that broken, humbled man, just as He had once done from within broken Abraham, broken Isaac, broken Jacob and broken Joseph before him. Because of that awesome ‘life-exchange’ that these Hebrew fathers of the Faith made with God’s living Word, the Word was able to obey His Father from within them and do what would have been utterly impossible for them. Thus the fathers ‘crossed over’ from Sin and its living death…to Word-Obedience and Eternal Life. (Some scholars believe the word, Hebrew, means ‘one who has crossed over’.)
This is the lesson every true disciple must learn during boot camp training. When God’s Word enters and takes over your heart, The Creator of the Universe will have no trouble doing what is utterly impossible for you. He will do it through you. And that is the supernatural testimony disciples can give to the humans around them who are still decapitated and trapped in the Serpent’s realm of self-centered Darkness.
Whenever God gives a command to a human being, it’s really a command that is being given to your Covenant Representative and His Holy Spirit. Imagine the Father addressing you and giving an impossible set of commands and directives. Realize that He is not speaking directly to you. He is addressing His beloved Son…His living Word …who is covering you. Father is actually addressing Him as He stands behind you. It is to Him that the Father looks and to Him that He assigns what to you, is impossible. God allows you to hear what He’s telling His Son and Holy Spirit to do…to you…in you…through you, and…as you. But you must learn to trust and rest in His Perfect indwelling Presence and All-Sufficient Grace.
The Holy Spirit’s assignment is to abide within us (with our consent and submission) so that by His Power, He can make God’s living Word (the risen Lord Yeshua) real to us and in us, as He did for Moses through the burning bush. And when the Word is made real to us, then we too can serve the function of a ‘burning bush.’ When the Lord Yeshua becomes experientially real to us, thanks to the Holy Spirit, His Life and Perfection come alive within us and He begins to operate through us on behalf of others. That is how He reveals His Resurrection Presence to the world…even to decapitated unbelievers like the pharaoh! The Spirit reveals the living Word through us…just as He once revealed Him to Moses through that burning bush.
And that is what was happening as the Holy Spirit empowered Moses to give signs that to the pharaoh and his court and his Israelite brethren were obviously, miraculous and supernatural. Moses became a ‘burning bush’ to the pharaoh! The hero of the story was not the bush that Moses saw…the hero was the Fire of the living Word of God abiding within the bush! And that’s how it was when Moses was sent to confront the pharaoh. It wasn’t Moses doing the impossible…it was the Spirit-transmitted living Word of God who was doing it.
“The (living Word of the) Lord furthermore said to him, ‘Now put your hand into your bosom.’ So he put his hand into his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous like snow. Then He said, ‘Put your hand into your bosom again.’ So he put his hand into his bosom again, and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh. ‘If they will not believe you or heed the witness of the first sign, they may believe the witness of the last sign. But if they will not believe even these two signs or heed what you say, then you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground; and the water which you take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground.’
“Then Moses said to the Lord, ‘Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.’ The Lord said to him, ‘Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say.’ But he said, ‘Please, Lord, now send the message by whomever You will.’” (Exodus 4:6-13)
Can you see the fear and insecurity in Moses’ immediate, instinctive, natural reaction? Can you see how he was picturing what was happening? He thought God expected him to do the impossible. He was viewing what was happening through typical, natural worldly ‘self-centered lenses.’ Those lenses always configure and twist reality into alien Godless formats. They present a reality that has no connection with or reference to God or the Truth He reveals and commands us to live by through His living and written Word. So, they cause people to operate out of God-less, decapitated, man-glorifying perspectives.
But Reality and Truth never change. Regardless of how badly the Serpent manages to blind us and distort our understanding, the fact remains: no created pile of dust can give life, movement or ability to itself. Only the Creator of all things can animate and activate dust piles. And Genesis revealed that this is exactly what He did with Adam, the prototype human. Like all other creatures, humans are helpless bankruptcy, personified. We can’t even generate one breath or brain wave or heart beat for ourselves any more than we could provide lungs, brains or hearts for ourselves! Everything comes from our one and only Source – the living creative Word of God! Without Him, nothing else can exist, much less operate. So to us…everything God requires is impossible…apart from His living Word!
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5)
God’s Word was training Moses, who became very aware of his helplessness. And that is what helped him learn to depend on God for everything. At first he saw things through his original ‘self-life eyeglasses.’ He didn’t realize God’s living Word was standing behind him, ready to do whatever His Father required of Moses. Moses could only see himself. But in truth, what God was about to do…was going to be done by the Word and the Spirit of God…to Moses…in Moses…and through Moses. The Word was going to deal with the pharaoh and all of the other ‘Head-less’ people in Egypt. Moses was going to be permitted to release and watch Him do it.
And so, God dealt with the ‘self-life residue’ that remained in Moses’ mind and in the ‘faulty wiring’ that still operated in his brain:
“Then the anger of the Lord burned against Moses, and He said, ‘Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. And moreover, behold, he is coming out to meet you; when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I, even I, will be with your mouth and his mouth, and I will teach you what you are to do. Moreover, he shall speak for you to the people; and he will be as a mouth for you and you will be as God to him. You shall take in your hand this staff, with which (My Word and Spirit in) you shall perform the signs.” (Exodus 4:14-17 Amplification and emphasis added.)
Moses, like we all must do, had to learn to get out of God’s way and stay out of the way. He had to learn that God is Perfect and everything He orders us to do in time and space has already been created, paid for and given to us in His Eternity…in the Kingdom of Heaven by His own Word! In the beginning, when His Word created the universe, He did it perfectly! Everything was there…all at once…past, present and future…from the very beginning! So what is yet to appear on Earth…already exists in Heaven.
“Thus the Heavens and the Earth were completed, and all their hosts. By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.” (Genesis 2:1-3 Emphasis added.)
The Depths of God’s Perfect Provision
At first, Moses, like all the rest of fallen flesh, knew nothing of God’s awesome Perfection and Completeness and Eternal Changelessness…or the real meaning of His Eternal Sabbath Rest. He could not fathom the depths of Perfection contained within that revelation. ‘Sabbath Rest’ means that everything we will ever need in the immediate present and endless future is already present and done in eternity…perfect and complete in every way! God’s living Word contains all of that Fullness within Himself. So Adam was born into God’s Perfection. He wasn’t born to be a toiling slave; he was born to be a son of God…abiding under the shadow of the wings of His Perfect infinitely Authoritative living Word! He was born to be empowered to be and think and act, react and interact by the Perfect Supply of the Love Energy of the Holy Spirit! But the Serpent destroyed all of that when he duped Adam and Eve and got them to kill themselves by cutting themselves off from their true and only Life Source…the Word of God.
So God’s Word began to teach and train Moses in the ways of ‘True Life’. And Moses struggled to understand and learn to abide in the total freedom and completeness of God’s awesome Perfection and All-Sufficiency. He began to take his first baby steps in the practice of God’s Heavenly ways…while the pharaoh of Egypt continued to toil and slave and carry out the Serpent’s wishes in his earth bound state of living death…decapitation…separation from what only God’s living Word and Holy Spirit could be and do for him. The pharaoh was so enslaved by the Serpent that the Serpent’s image, a golden asp was prominently displayed on his royal head piece, in open declaration of what he really was and who he really served.
The Serpent’s lies have completely entranced and hypnotized the decapitated fallen world and its system. Headless humans maintain and protect the earthly system because they are convinced that the Serpent’s lies are absolutely true. They are convinced that living death is life and that true Eternal Life, is death. They believe the Serpent’s original suggestion to Eve…that as soon as you reject and ignore God’s living Word – ‘You will be like God.’ So they view themselves and everything that happens through, ‘It’s all about ME’ mental lenses. People like the pharaoh are so convinced that what they see through their self-life lenses is true…that they actually think, live and speak as if they are ‘gods.’ And so, just like a nest of serpents, they hiss, rear back and strike out at the Word of the Real, True, Living God of Abraham, and anyone who dares to serve as His disciple and dares to approach them with the Truth that God’s Word actually lives and speaks through them!
“So he (John the Immerser) began saying to the crowds who were going out to be baptized by him, ‘You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits in keeping with repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham.’” (Luke 3:6-8 Emphasis added.)
The Word of the Real God is sent to abide in His disciples…and together they are empowered by the Holy Spirit to invade the Serpent’s domain…to oppose, expose, discredit and overcome the lies of the Serpent and anyone who insists on perpetuating his rebellion against the living God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Moses, Aaron, the other Israelites and all the rest of us suffer from the very same deficiencies and handicaps that Sin has imposed on all humans. But instead of allowing us to follow the Serpent to our eternal doom, God sends His Word to wake us from our hypnotic trance. Then He leads us out of delusion and back into His Reality. Then He trains us to follow Him and to learn to abide and rest in His Truth and Eternal Perfection. He teaches us the wisdom of forsaking our false, Sin-induced radically independent self-life and allowing it to be crucified and executed and stripped away from us…then in exchange, He gives Himself to us and becomes for us the Fullness of God. He is all that His Father sends Him to be and to do as our one and only Real Source for everything.
So…does God do this for His Chosen Disciples out of favoritism? Is it because He loves to discriminate between one human and another? Is it because He is set on getting even and wreaking revenge against any human that despises and rejects Him? NO! That’s not why He begins with Israel and trains His people to become true disciples of His Word. He does it to train them to learn and live according to the Truth that sets all men free. And when the Truth lives in us and acts through us…God can demonstrate His Reality and Truth to the rest of the world, through our obedient faith. This is how He can reach out to people who are still decapitated…people like the pharaoh and his captivated, idolatrous subjects. God intends to set them free as well. To God, they are not bitter hated enemies! In His Gardener Eyes…they are Sin-wounded, starving, dehydrated ‘plants’ that have been cut off from their Life-Source; they are in desperate need of being grafted back into His Life-giving Word. They need His Word to share His Life and Inheritance with them and enable them to thrive and share in His Eternal Fruitfulness and Fulfillment.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (the living Word made flesh), that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have Eternal Life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already (Gen. 2:15-17; 4:6-8) because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. This is the Judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and (decapitated) men loved the Darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil (dead). For everyone who does evil (dead Head-less works) hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed (for the dead things they really are). But he who practices the Truth (lives by and from the indwelling Life of the Word of God) comes to the Light, so that his (Spirit-empowered) deeds (which are actually being done by His Head, God’s living Word) may be manifested as having been wrought in God!” (John 3:16-21 Amplification and emphasis added.)
If you read carefully through those painful chapters in Exodus that describe all the plagues and destruction and the final judgment that fell upon pharaoh and his land and its people, you can almost see God trying to ‘jack hammer’ their mental and emotional concrete that had kept them stuck in that worldly false view of Reality that we get when we keep looking through the Serpent’s deceptive living death ‘lenses.’ God always intends to reach out to everyone, to Jew and Gentile alike. That’s why He created the prophetic nation of Israel to serve as His instrument of notification and demonstration and ultimate Salvation for the entire fallen race of Adam.
God’s Heart for the Nations
How many millions of Egyptians that are not specifically mentioned in the text do you think saw through the falsehood of the false gods of that day and began to believe in and revere the God of Abraham after they experienced His Power through those plagues? The pharaoh refused to believe and acknowledge God…but God only knows how many of the other Egyptians did believe and turn to Him. The word about God’s awesome power and faithfulness to Israel spread far and wide after Egypt was devastated. And people were still thinking and talking about Him in other areas, over forty years later:
“Now before they lay down, she (Rahab) came up to them (two Israelite spies) on the roof, and said to the men, ‘I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have melted away before you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. When we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the Lord your God, He is God in Heaven above and on Earth beneath. Now therefore, please swear to me by the Lord, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s household, and give me a pledge of truth, and spare my father and my mother and my brothers and my sisters, with all who belong to them, and deliver our lives from death.” (Joshua 2:8-13 Amplification and emphasis added.)
This is why it is so important for us to know God’s Plan and His methods and ways. To know this is to know Truth and Reality. And to know Truth and Reality is to know the living God, the one and only True God. And to know Him…is Eternal Life.
“The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. He who believes in the Son (the living Word and the written Word that reveals Him) has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:35-36 Amplification added.)
“Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son (the Word) also gives life to whom He (Father) wishes. For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, so that all will honor the Son (the Word of the Father) even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has Eternal Life, and does not come into judgment, but (becomes a True Hebrew that) has passed out of (crossed over from) Death into Life.” (John 5:19-24 Amplification and emphasis added.)
Beloved, can you see how prominently Yeshua is being revealed in the book of Exodus? He is just as prominent there as He was in Genesis. The second book Moses was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write also reveals the living Word that comes straight out of the heart and mouth of God. He is here among us to do His Father’s bidding! Everything God is and does is contained in His Word and through this living Word we can know the Father who sent Him to us. And if we become one with the Word and serve as His disciples, we actually become one with the Father and His Holy Spirit in whose Name the Word is sent.
“Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, ‘Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life. This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent…” (John 17:1-3)
This is the living Word that entered into Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and Moses. He began to live and speak and reveal His Father, by the Power of the Father’s Spirit, to the world around them. And just as God loved these fathers of the Faith and their households, so did He also love the fallen, decapitated people around them. He sent His Word to reconnect Himself to them so that they would no longer have to be decapitated, living death slaves of the Serpent. He sent His Word to be the connecting Blood Covenant Link between God and Mankind…between Eternity and Time and Space…between Heaven and Earth.
And we would do well to sense and feel and understand what the commission is that God gave to His Word, so we can better understand what He is here to do to us, in us and through us as He continues to reach out to the decapitated people of our generation. Take to heart what the Word of God made flesh says to His Father in John chapter 17. Then you will also understand what He came to do to, in, and through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and Moses…and every other one of His disciples throughout the generations, including you and your fellow disciples of this generation:
“I have manifested Your Name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your Word. Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me. I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours; and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your Name, the Name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are. While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your Name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.” (John 17:6-12)
Because our God is absolute Perfection in His nature, and never changes, we can’t view or judge Him according to human viewpoints and standards. Our God does not become ‘moody’ or ‘petulant.’ He never ‘vacillates.’ Nothing created can ‘change His mind’ or do or say anything that would deter or persuade Him to ‘change course’ or go back on His Word or deviate from His Plan. You will never see The Perfect One do anything like that. His ways are truly not our ways.
So the only proper response we can make to Eternal Perfection, once He begins to reveal Himself to us through His Perfect Word and Perfect Holy Spirit…is to fall face down before Him and worship in utter silence. And as His Glory permeates our innermost being and fills our hearts to capacity with uncontrollable awe, praise, worship and gratitude…we sing out the revelations of Him that He puts within us. And as the revelation we receive explodes within us and bursts forth from our hearts in this time and space world, it rises up and fills the physical Universe and the Heavenly realms beyond…with a cosmic Psalm to His Eternal Glory.
He is Here, Within Every Image and Likeness Disciple!
This is what Yeshua of Nazareth, the incarnate Word of the living God, contained within His Sin-less flesh when He appeared in our midst. This is what He was sent to be to Adam and Eve when He came to cover their nakedness in the Garden. And this is what He is to us…the Source of all created things. He is always with His creatures to be their life Source…in each generation of human history, His disciples receive Him on that basis and demonstrate the Truth of it to the world around them.
It is always the same…He is always here, sent by His Father, to exchange His Eternal Life for our living death, to give us His utter, eternal Freedom and to take us out of our former doomed entanglement within the Serpent’s coils. We exchange our Sin-corrupted state of being cut off …and receive the blessed Reality of being one with the real true, living God of all Creation, through His living Word. If the pharaoh that Moses confronted had listened and allowed God’s Word to reveal Himself to him, through Moses and Aaron, if he had allowed the Word to pierce, penetrate and impregnate His decapitated heart with His Truth and Light…he too would have been delivered from the Serpent and he too would have been led out of Darkness and living death. And he too would have received the commission given to Moses and Israel…to serve God as a devoted disciple of His beloved Son, the Word.
This is still possible for all of the ‘pharaoh types’ of our day. God’s reconciliation is still being extended to all…if they will only listen and obey the Word of their Creator. And that is why the Word is so diligent to teach, train and equip His disciples…to make sure we are prepared as well as possible…to abide in Him, and live and think and act, react and interact as one with Him, just as our Marching Orders describe…so that we can be precise, authentic, pliable and eminently willing instruments of His embodiment on Earth:
“But now (Father) I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves. I have given them Your Word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them (set them apart) in the Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. For their sakes I sanctify Myself (My crucified, Spirit-empowered humanity) that they themselves also may be sanctified in Truth.
“I do not ask on behalf of these (first century New Covenant disciples) alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
“The Glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I AM (seated at Your right hand), so that they may see My Glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
“O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:13-26 Amplification and emphasis added.)
So…beloved disciples-in-training…pay attention to your true identity, purpose and destiny. Be diligent in learning your ‘Boot Camp’ training lessons. Learn them as Moses learned them…with precision, accuracy and mirror-image faithfulness. Do not give to the world a twisted, distorted reflection of the One who lives and works from within you. Reflect and embody Him as He really is…just as His Father sent and revealed Him to you, and just as He inspired Moses to reveal Him in human words. The Salvation of the pharaohs of this world and the people that follow them depends on God’s Chosen People and how faithfully and with what purity they fulfill their God-given commission as God’s Priestly, Royal New Covenant Nation of chosen disciples of His Word.
“For this reason (seeing the greatness of this plan by which you are built together in Christ), I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for Whom every family in Heaven and on Earth is named (that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name). May He grant you out of the rich Treasury of His Glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the (Holy) Spirit (Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality).
“May Christ (Messiah, the living Word of God made flesh) through your faith (actually) dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in Love and founded securely on Love, that you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints (God’s devoted people, the experience of that Love) what is the breadth and length and height and depth (of it);(that you may really come) to know (practically, through experience for yourselves) the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge (without experience)]; that you may be filled (through all your being) unto all the fullness of God (may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself)!
“Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the (action of His) power that is at work within us, is able to (carry out His purpose and) do superabundantly, far over and above all that we (dare) ask or think (infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams)—to Him be Glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).” (Ephesians 3:15-21 Amplified Bible)
